Turquoise - Tibetan Treasures Which Can Aviod Evil

Turquoise, Red Coral and Mila(Beeswax) are not original produced in Tibet, But almost every Tibetan wears three treasures. Because Tibetan believe they can help you aviod evil, and represent the special powers of faith, fortune, love and wisdom.

Turquoise is an opaque, blue-to-green mineral that is a hydrous phosphate of copper and aluminium, with the chemical formula CuAl6(PO4)4(OH)8ยท4H2O. It is rare and valuable in finer grades and has been prized as a gem and ornamental stone for thousands of years owing to its unique hue.

Tibetan Prayer Flags

Prayer Flags The color of a prayer flag and the symbols printed on it create a prayer or offering that the wind distributes to the world each time it brushes against the flag. The Tibetan word for a horizontal prayer flag is Lung ta, which translates literally as "wind horse." The prayers of a flag become a permanent part of the universe as the images fade from wind and sun. Just as life moves on and is replaced by new life, Tibetans renew their hopes for the world by continually mounting new flags alongside of the old.

The inauspicious dates for 2007 are - Jan 4,17,20,31 Feb 12,26 March 11,25 April 6,21 May 3,17,29 June 10,25 July 7,21 Aug 2,17,29 Sept 12,24 Oct 5,21 Nov 1,17,28 Dec 13,24 Once flags are hung they do not need to be taken down on these dates, they should stay up until the flags fade to white.

Rock paintings in Tibet

Rock paintings in China can be divided into southern and northern schools.

Southern school rock paintings depict mainly religious rituals and are painted in red. They are distributed in an area from southwest to south China.

Northern school rock paintings, carved into rocks, show hunting activities in north China. They are distributed in an area from the northeast to northwest and southwest. The part from northeast to southwest China extends from Heilongjiang to Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang and Tibet. Once in Inner Mongolia,

the rock paintings moved northwestward in two ways: one way connected with Central Asia via Altaishan, Tianshan and Kunlunshan Mountains, and the Pamir Plateau; the other way linked up with Central Asia via Yingshan, Helanshan and Qilianshan Mountains, and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Feng Shui

Feng Shui
Feng shui is the ancient Chinese method of creating harmony and promoting the balance of yin and yang in determining one's environment. Proper feng shui will enhance an area by examining how energy flows through it, and by looking at both the yin and yang of that area (as well as how the five elements are arranged and where the room faces geographically). A feng shui expert studies an individual's horoscope and finds out what is best for that person based on mathematical calculations from the " I Ching?("Book of Changes?. Feng shui has been found to increase sales in a business, and provide a more harmonious family environment. During the days of imperial rule in China, feng shui was kept secret and only used for the court. The Forbidden City was built using feng shui principles, and upon entering the Forbidden City the visitor should feel confused and sometimes get lost this was a means of protecting the emperor and members of the court from outside intruders. Although many in the west believe that feng shui is merely superstition, or an old and outdated view of the world, the fact that some environments and homes feel more comfortable to us than others is proof that feng shui is still relevant in modern times.
